Autumn Winter 17 Home Style

The world of fashion and interiors doesn’t stop working. Already we are looking forward to autumn/winter 2017, and what the new season will mean for our homes. Will we still be loving Lagom and going hysterical over Hygge? Well we’ve got your home fashion questions answered.

Maps

Maps have been filtering through interior designs for a few months now, but as the weather turns and we crave more depth and warmth from our homes, maps will come into their own. Transforming rooms from bland to breath-taking, maps will add culture, passion, and an earthliness to homes that modern living has been leaving behind.

To add this trend to your home, you don’t have to go all out. Think about framing a few interesting map designs or adding a cushion or tow. There’s loads on sites such as Etsy and Not on the High Street.

Foliage

House plants have been a key part of the Lagom and Hygge trend, and they’re not set to go anywhere this autumn/winter. Adding a cosy feel, house plants can really transform a space and make it look loved and lived in. And to really jump on the trend bandwagon, opt for branches and twigs covered berries or cotton. Providing a more dramatic look than traditional plants, they make a bold statement – particularly against a dramatic wall.

Reclaimed wood

Reclaimed wood has been sneaking into interiors for the last year or so. Coming hot on the heels of the industrial trend, people are reaping the stylish and cost-effective benefits of reclaimed wood. Set to stick around for the foreseeable future, reclaimed wood can take many forms. So if you’re in the market for a new dining table, why not hop on this trend? Or to really make a bold statement, try adding some reclaimed wood effect tiles to your kitchen or bathroom floor. Wipe clean and hard-wearing, they are the ultimate way to inject A/W ’17 style into your home.

Soft but dramatic lighting

Having enjoyed somewhat of resurgence due to the vintage trend, chandeliers are one of the top trends as we look forward to autumn/winter. Adding a non-intrusive glow, they brighten up rooms with added drama. Wall lights are another trend likely to make waves as the nights darken. Much more forgiving in a room for entertaining or a relaxing space, they add sufficient light – without blinding anyone. And don’t expect bare bulbs to be a thing this season either – in autumn/winter ’17, it’s all about lampshades.
