Attractive wooden bobbins from textile mills in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. The cotton trade in the USA in the 18th and 19th century borrowed the technical developments from the UK.

As in the factories of the North of England, bobbin making became a trade in itself - yet whilst little of the output remains these disposable objects are still available and are now re-born as a desirable piece of decorative art Mounted on a contrasting wooden base, these lamps are versatile for positioning and provide an arc of light.
