G9 LED Dimmable Bulbs are available in different wattages which provides a credible option for the halogen version in ceiling fittings where the need to dim the lighting is required. These lamps are great for chandeliers and wall lights and are a good way of saving money on your energy bills.
Most brands have both dimmable, and non-dimmable G9 LED Bulbs in their range of LED products. It is important when selecting a G9 dimmable LED compatible dimmers will be required to match the lower wattages of LED G9 bulbs. We have found the Varilight V-Pro dimmers are the best in the market for compatibility across brands. These provide a lower dimming capability of 10 watts for applications when using a small number of lamps. It is OK to fit G9 LED Dimmable Bulbs in a non-dimmable fitting as these lamps will work on a normal light switch.
The answer is yes, you can, but it is best to stick to the same manufacturer, wattage and colour temperature for consistency of light output. Also, the bulbs' minimum wattage must be more than the minimum wattage of the dimmer switch, or flickering can occur, so its best to replace it on a like-for-like basis. If you do fit, for example, a Warm White Prolite branded G9 Dimmable Bulbs into a fitting that has existing Warm White Megaman Bulbs, there may be a slightly noticeable difference in the colour temperatures of these lamps.
